All I had to do was read.

The wind sauntered through the open door and carried the bird song with it. It gently lifted the drapes and led the warmth from the southern California sun through the cabin and out the opposite facing window. The glow of the morning was a welcome guest. It was quiet. Sounds of the breeze in the lemon trees, the children at play in the orchard and a small something rustling in the leaves behind the cabin lazily filled our open shelter.

The pressure of my work is something that is constantly pressing down on me firmly, regardless of my location. It keeps its thumb on the top of my skull and exerts its downward force without repose. And thus, it’s not often that I experience these moments of complete peace. But this moment was one.

And all I got to do was read. So I picked up the book I brought and I read.
